Yarraman is a small country town with a population of approximately 900 people in town with several hundred more in the surrounding countryside using Yarraman as a base. Industries include cattle, grain and timber with the Tarong power station and Meandu coal mine nearby providing employment. The word Yarraman is derived from the aboriginal language and means horse.
Yarraman is situated on the junction of the Daigular and New England Highways and has most amenities including Police, Fire and Ambulance, an IGA supermarket, hotels, motels and numerous other service providers.
Yarraman has it's own community radio FM 99.7 'Wild Horse on air' which broadcasts from the Yarraman Heritage Centre. The radio is only a local broadcaster with 250 watt ERP but streams to the internet and so can be accessed anywhere.
More information about Yarraman as well as the radio can be accessed on www.yarraman.net or the radios own website www.4who.org.au
